Or we could "hear" it, but whatever, I can't let that grammatical error go unaddressed. Carry on.

outside of Aberdeen SD on Richmond lake is a serene little course, lots of variety - EMPTY, lake views... and in the winter - snow!

Right on. How's the course: how many pins, pars, tee boxes, terrain? I dig the prospect of a beautiful locale.

          howzit tactix?

being a former iowan myself, i can offer you some suggestions (if you havent already played these courses)

omaha: the course on south 72nd street. great 18 holes, good variety, one toss over a creek.
lincoln: another great variety course with an over the creek hole (i love throwing over water)
kansas city: there are like 5 courses in the KC metro area. most challenging is water works, which is very hilly and heavily wooded. i cant remember the names of the others, i think one in loose park and one is swope park. i guess its been awhile since i was there.

and i gotta plug my current turf: GET YOUR ASS TO HAWAII !!! our course is object only with no launching pads, but it is seaside in a park that used to be a WWII military instilation. the course meanders through buried pill boxes and lookout towers. over beaches and through palm trees. worth the flight.

          peace,
          e

            Native Californian here.

I love the Napa course, beautiful views from 3 or 4 of the tees, epic !

And of course, De Laveaga in Santa Cruz.

yeah, i agree. the de laveaga is epic (and an epic disc eater). the only course i played north of the bay so far is in nevato, but it was sweet....

Navato is probably the hardest course on the planet! Fun but don't need to keep score!

                  I LOVE THE NAVATO COURSE!!!!
its definately one of my favorites.
i live up in nor cal in humboldt so we have quit a few.
the mad river course is a basic 9 hole precision course.
the redwood curtain is beautiful, somewhat hard to navigate, and TONS of HUGE trees that always seem to get in the way.
Coopers (or Poopers) gulch, smells, is short, and pretty much sucks ass.
the two east of here in willow creek are extremely nice, but somewhat difficult, expect to lose a disc or 2 your first time around.

                  love&light

                    Yo Charles,

I've heard the stories about the clothing optional rounds up thar in them woods, is that legend or myth ?

Are there 2 courses at willow creek ? pdga.com only shows 1

Is Redwood Curtain baskets or tone poles ?

i've never seen the "clothing optional" games, but in this area i definately wouldnt be surprised.
the redwood curtain is mainly poles, especially the front 9, but the back 9 have several baskets. this course is only open for about 8 months of the year. its closed for a while during the winter for erosion control, and because the ferns are crowning.
willow creek was 2 courses, amon wranch and steelhead. both are pretty nice. amon wranch has 18 holes.

dude, you pretty much nailed my life path right there. i also have phoenix and san diego under my belt (san diego has a course worth visiting).

now in hawaii, i look SW and see... kiribati, papua new guinea, australia??

              ----------------------------------------------------------------
and this is an official invitation for any and all of you to come to hawaii and play with me. there arent that many "chuckers" "golfers" "discers" out here, so i usually take newbies out. which is cool, but there are all of you out there who play all the time and need to check out a tropical course. plus, i have a guest room at my house, so the invitation is officially open....

I live and play in the NW. Lots of great wooded courses up here. Pier Park is 10 minutes away so that's my home course www.bullseyediscgolf.com/or-co...k.html peep it out. I also play a lot in Corvallis at Willamette Park. Very Fun course! wdgc.odsa.com/

I travel a bit and I always bring my discs with me. I've played a fun course just south of Lake Tahoe. Don't remember the name. I think it was 27holes long though. I go down to San Diego a lot and play at Balboa Park. It's usually pretty busy, but it's a pretty fun course. Lawrence Park in Kalespell Montana was Ok. Only 9 holes, and flat, but whatevs. In Colorado I've played Edora Park in Fort Collins. Very fun, but watch the water on hole 7 and 11. Also, played the Poncha Springs course down by Salida. Very fun as well.

Mendocino County is just south of Humboldt and has several courses of note. The first is in Ukiah on Low Gap road just past the High School and the Jail. It has 18 Baskets with Cement Tees, nice elevation changes, this course meanders through Oaks, Brush and meadows. A bonus to this course is that the Ukiah Brewery is not far away (across from the court house in down town) and is open for lunch.
There is also a 18 hole course at The Booneville Brewery in Booneville, I haven't played it since it's been open to the public but I seem to remember that there is a $5 greens fee, that you are given a $5 coupon for to spend in their gift shop/tasting room. This course isn’t all regulation baskets some are old kegs cut and welded together with bicycle rims. The $5 is suppose to be going toward buying new Baskets so the kegs may be gone by now. These two are definitely worth checking out.

Have played one course so far in københavn and was rather impressed with the layout! Have played many in and around USA, but plan to discover more in and around scandinavia! Its interesting how this sport has spread across the world!

Colorado a wonderful spot to play, numerous, endless courses nestled among the evergreens!

    Keep on throwing........

        wuddup yos,
berlin: like 50something holes. no joke.
amsterdam: my pupils were mini-discs of darkness and the van gogh museum was a great course!
and plus, the german discgolf website has pictures with trajectories for every hole on every course. crazy germans.

Anyone play Penn Valley near Grass Valley? Is it worth the drive from Sacramento?

A month ago we had a good weekend DG trip I'll share with all........Here is what we played:

    Friday

2 rounds of 18 in Stockton - Nice course, mostly short, but water hazards and trees come into play.

    Saturday

Santa Cruz - DeLaveaga 2 rounds of 23 holes (4 holes were closed). One of the best and challenging courses on the planet!

2 rounds of 18 holes in Monterey (the old course) some really long fairways, and the wind picked up on us, which didn't help. Worth playing again! Very hard to find the tees without someone knowing the course.

    Sunday

18 holes in Berkeley, at the aquatic park. My suggestion is play very early, pedestrians everywhere. You got to have some confidence in driving over the lagoon, very short fairways. 2 discs lost to the water gods.

18 holes at the Vacaville Lagoon - cost a few bucks to park, or you can be cheap and walk a mile to the course. Course starts out very easy, but challenges you going up into the hills. Some really great scenic shots! Right off I-80, worth playing.

Met some great people on the trip! 154 Holes, 5 courses, 300-/+ miles in 3 days.

Locally in Sacramento.........we play 2 rounds in Rocklin every week!

So many great courses within an hour drive......Auburn, Grass Valley and Orangevale are all worth playing and will challenge even the best players

Next road trip will be Napa, Marin, Penn Valley and Clear Lake!

          In the NW:

I live in Portland, OR. I haven't played much north towards seattle, but I hear Steilacomb in WA has a great course. Locally, I'd have to say McIver Park near Estacada is the best around.

However my favorite course I've playe is Whistler's Bend outside of Roseburg, OR.

Have you played Pier Park in St. Johns? I've played one of the courses out in Estacada (it was in a park on a river), but that was a few years ago. If you want to play a Washington course that's not to far from Portland, you should try Lucky Mud in Skamokawa. Here's the info www.luckymud.com/ This course is like a jungle!! Ask for Bob (I think that's his name). He's an old hermit that owns part of the land that the course is on. Without him, you will spend a lot of time lost and even more time looking for your disc. It's challenging, but very fun!!

Hit me up if you want to play some time

Steilacoom in Tacoma, that place is the shizzle ! Baskets made from scrap wood, truck tires and chain. Last time I played (10 years ago!!) they had like 40 some odd baskets out there. You MUST play here.

The world champs were in Des Moines a year or so ago and the courses there still suck, except for the fact that they have the pro baskets.

So I'm on your case, but I get your real point: there's a lot of courses near Allentown.

dudes, it's like saying ashton kutcher is from your hometown (in iowa at least) the world/universal grandmaster disc championships are always held somewhere nearby last year for all of us. big frigging deal! bunch of too-serious disc golfers with bags upon bags of ultra new plastic. after making a trek to baraboo wisconsin to golf/camp, i had my experience pooped on by a couple duders throwing 400 ft to my 250. sure, i'm not the greatest amature, but that was a shot to the self-esteem. play with golf balls if you're going to enforce out of bounds and who putts when and is my disc too overstable. whatever.
baraboo is still worth the trip.

Being from NorCal, I would rank the best courses in these parts as:

                    1. Ammon Ranch-Humboldt County (great lay out for the true arms- however, it's a boon dock course meaning your putting at sticks unless its a tourney, but the tourneys at ammon can't be beat).

                    2. De La @ Santa Cruz lives up to the hype

                    3. Penn Valley near Grass Valley- very challenging with long throws, rollers, obstacles, water and the works- a phenominal course with the only thing missing being elevation

                    4. Whistlers Bend near Medford Oregeon- this course has the works. last time I played it lacked baskets but I hear that is soon to change (or has changed). Worth the drive and offers camping.

                    5. Condon Park, Grass Valley- Great course for all level of players, has something for everyone and the hard placements can keep pros working.

                    6. Horse Mountain, Humboldt County- The boondocks courses in Humboldt are both beautiful and challenging- this one is great for epic elevation shots and some tight holes.

                    7. Rockland- Really fun with a great layout, plenty of long stuff- can be hot as hell in the summer but it will usually get a breeze in the evenings.

                    8. Lakeport- Has so many tee options that you can play this course all day long and never repeat a hole, a classy course with a beautiful setting. The only downside is the shooting range nearby which can be cause for cursing while putting or driving.

                    9. Grants pass near the rogue river: They have done a lot to this course to make it worth the drive. Nice variety of shots.

                    10. Spokane Washington- If memory serves me correct it had twenty seven holes and was quite challenging- not quite in Norcal land but if you happen to be passing through hit it up.

i just started playing 2 weeks ago. Mostly playing aquatic park in Berkeley, near where i live. Playing in the evening gives you some beautiful sunsets over the bay.
Quite enjoying my daily trips to this course and have also tried golden gate park, moraga and san leandro.
Golden gate park has some beautiful holes!!

McNaughton Park in Pekin, IL not far from Peoria. One freakin' beautiful 18 hole course with one of the longest 18th holes I've seen. Trees, green meadows, lakes ponds and hills. A sure challenge for anyone!

I agree with the McNaughton post .... great course. Also nearby is Anna Page Park in Rockford, IL. Gorgeous course that looks like a ball golf course.

Just got back from playing Highbridge in northern WI ..... home of the upcoming PDGA Worlds. Four championship courses on the same property ranging from difficult (Blueberry) to "off the hook" tough (Gold). Lots of woodticks, and tough to get to ..... but well worth the effort.
